The Recital

The kids had their first music recital tonight. They’ve been taking lessons for a little over two months now and I wasn’t sure they should even do the recital. I figured they needed more practice, even that they might be embarrassed performing alongside other kids who had been doing it longer. Dummy me. Don’t I know comparison is the theif of joy and success? It was a reminder of how far I still need to go to overcome my own fears and insecurities. Of course- They did amazing. I was equal parts proud of their courage to get up on the stage in front of a full house (the show was sold out!), and their stellar performances. I’m so glad we found Eager studios and the kids started this music journey. It’s encouraging, wholesome, and teaches the kids (and me) so many valuable lessons.

After the recital we went to Braised for Alec’s birthday dinner. He’s going to be 16 next week. He wants a Jeep, but Pete wants to get him a bow and arrow, drone, a race car, a speeding car, or a semi truck. He also wanted to get a lawn mower for Alec’s step-dad. He cracks me up.
